VRQ410 – Principles and practices of managing an inert landfill (Inert Landfill & Deposit for Recovery Operation)
This optional unit falls in the Medium risk tier of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme.
The initial training course covers a range of aspects from geology, hydrology, site design, barriers, risk assessments, monitoring, pre-acceptance, records, and technical and environmental impacts relevant to an
inert landfill.
On completion of the 5 mandatory units and optional unit
VRQ410, the individual can act as the technically competent manager (TCM) of the below site types:
• Use of waste in a deposit for recovery operation (construction, reclamation, restoration or improvement of land other than by mobile plant)
• Open inert landfill
• Open inert landfill single waste stream
• Closed inert landfill
• Deposit in lagoons of non-hazardous dredging from waterways
• Storage and treatment of dredging for recovery
